Privacy statement
Which data this site uses, why, and what your rights are. In short: as little as possible.
Last updated: 2 November 2026
We keep it simple: we process as little data about you as possible. We only measure how the site is used with Google Analytics if you give your permission. Below, you can read which data is still processed, why, and what rights you have. This statement follows the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible?
This website is created and managed by the editorial team of verzwaringsknuffel.com. Do you have a question about your data? Then send us a message via the contact form and choose ‘A privacy question’ as the subject.
Cookies and statistics
We would like to know which pages are read and which explanations could be better. For this, we use Google Analytics, via Google Tag Manager. This only happens if you give your permission in the cookie bar. If you say no, or make no choice, we don't load Google Analytics and the site sets no cookies.
If you give permission, Google Analytics sets cookies, such as _ga. With these, Google sees things like which pages you view, which website or search brought you here, and what kind of device and browser you use. We only see overviews of this, without names. Google may also process this data outside the European Union and is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for this. The legal basis is your consent.
Your own browser remembers your choice for 12 months, using localStorage. After that, we ask again. Want to change your choice sooner? Choose ‘Cookie settings’ at the bottom of the page. If you withdraw your permission, we remove the Google Analytics cookies from this site.
Hosting with Netlify
The website is hosted by Netlify. With every visit, Netlify's server receives technical data, such as your IP address, the time, the page you request and the type of browser. This data is stored in server logs. It is needed to keep the site secure and available, for example to detect attacks and fix outages. The logs are kept for a short time and then deleted. We don't use them to track or recognise visitors.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest: a secure, working website. Netlify is based in the United States, which means that data may also be processed outside the European Union. For this, Netlify is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. If that framework ceases to apply, the standard contractual clauses in Netlify's data processing agreement apply.
Contact form
The contact form runs on Netlify Forms. When you fill it in, we process the data you provide yourself, such as your name, your email address and your message, plus the time you send it. Netlify may also record technical data, such as your IP address, to stop spam.
We only use this data to reply to your message, for example a question or a correction to an article. We don't use it for advertising or newsletters, and we don't sell it. Netlify processes the form technically on our behalf. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in being able to reply to your message.
We keep your message for up to 12 months after our last contact. After that, we delete it.
Please don't include any information about your health or about your child in your message. It isn't needed for a question about the site.
Fonts
This site's fonts are stored on our own server. So your browser doesn't connect to Google or Adobe for them.
Light and dark
The site is light during the day and dark in the evening. If you switch the display yourself, your own browser remembers that choice until the next switchover, using localStorage. That is not a cookie. The setting stays on your own device and is not sent to us. You can clear it by deleting the website data in your browser.
Links to hugsback.com and other websites
Links to hugsback.com are partner links. On hugsback.com, Hugsback's privacy statement applies.
We also link to sources, such as studies and websites of organisations. If you click on such a link, that website's privacy rules apply.
Security
The site uses a secure connection (https). Because we process so little data, there is also little that could leak.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data;
- have incorrect data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- have the processing restricted or object to it;
- receive your data in a common file format.
Send your request via the contact form, with ‘A privacy question’ as the subject. We will respond within one month. In practice, this mainly concerns messages you have sent via the contact form. The Google Analytics statistics are not linked to your name.
Do you disagree with how we handle your data? Please let us know first, and we'll look for a solution together. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit).
Changes
If anything changes in how we handle data, we will update this privacy statement. At the top, you can see the date of the last change.
